What information we collect
When you fill in the contact form on our website, we collect the information you provide — which may include your name, email address, and details about your ancestry or research inquiry. We do not collect any information automatically beyond what is gathered by standard website hosting (see Hosting, below).
Why we collect it
We use the information you submit solely to respond to your inquiry and, if you become a client, to carry out the research services you have engaged us for. We do not use your information for marketing purposes without your explicit consent, and we do not sell or share it with third parties except as described below.
The legal basis for processing contact form submissions is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. The legal basis for processing data as part of a client engagement is the performance of a contract between you and us.
How long we keep it
We retain contact form enquiries for up to 2 years. We retain client records (correspondence, research notes, and documents) for up to 5 years following completion of the engagement, in line with our legal obligations. If you would like your information deleted, contact us at hello@yourroots.eu and we will remove it promptly.
Third parties
Our website is hosted by Hostinger (hostinger.com). Our contact form is powered by WPForms. These services process data on our behalf and have their own privacy policies. We do not use advertising networks or sell data to third parties.
Our website is hosted by Hostinger, whose servers are located within the EU. If you are contacting us from outside the EU, please be aware that your data may be processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with GDPR requirements.
